No, Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is not a professor at Columbia University in New York. On the other hand, associate professor of Arab culture and politics, Joseph Massad, sounds a lot like Iran's rogue leader. 

An editorial this Monday in the New York Daily News recently urged Columbia to deny Massad's bid for tenure and brought to light Massad's assertions in his latest book Desiring Arabs, which examines the portrayal of Arabs on sexual issues. Interesting enough, but it is what he has said about homosexuality that has raised some eyebrows.

...At one point in the event, Fr. Pfleger asserted that race was somehow an issue with the injustice of gun violence. He stated that there were no “black or brown gun manufacturers,” but only white manufacturers. Yet, gun violence is mainly a black and brown problem...

A few weeks ago the DePaul Egan Hope Scholars and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, and the Cesar Chavez Series Committee hosted a town hall forum on gun violence. The slogan for the event was “Put the GUNS Down on 3/9/09.”  The featured panelist for the evening was Father Michael Pfleger.
